Innovation in manufacturing: Two groundbreaking projects launched

April

With Manufacturing Next Materials, we are once again taking big steps forward! Two new projects are under way, aiming to make the production of parts and components made from high-performance materials more efficient, smarter and more sustainable. From 3D printed catalysts to lightweight robotic arms, these innovations are taking the industry to the next level!

Project 1: Design innovation of unique 3D metal printed catalytic reactors

In this cutting-edge project, AddCat (NL) and Femto Engineering GmbH (DE) join forces, with additional support from the Universität Duisburg-Essen. Their mission? To improve the efficiency of 3D printed catalysts - for example for air purification - by as much as 50%! This through innovative designs based on advanced simulations. A big step towards profitability and the transition from prototype to production part.

Project 2: Dual-Arm-Robot (DARe).

This is a collaboration between 3-D.services GmbH (DE) and SENOVI Nederland B.V. (NL), as part of the joint ZIM network DPN of innos GmbH (Andreas Baar) and Oost NL. DARe focuses on developing a new Dual-Arm-Robot solution that combines additive and subtractive manufacturing of composite materials. Part of this is to make part of a robotic arm from composite materials such as fiberglass-reinforced thermoplastics. This arm will be designed for additive manufacturing with hollow structures and grid designs, reducing weight without sacrificing strength. With these innovations, we are not only strengthening the industry, but building a sustainable and future-oriented manufacturing industry. Huge thanks to all the partners and experts who make this possible. Together we are making a difference!

The MNM project is carried out within the framework of the Interreg Deutschland-Nederland VI program and is co-financed by the European Union, the Ministry of Economic Affairs, the MWIKE NRW, the MB Niedersachsen and the Province of Drenthe, Province of Flevoland, Province of Fryslân, Province of Gelderland, Province of Groningen, Province of Noord-Brabant and Province of Overijssel.
